Galaxy 2009 DPF Replacement (what tools)?

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I’ve got to change the DPF for MOT.

managed to get one on the bay for £125.

Got to change it myself, but can someone help me with what tools I need please, so I don’t have to stop half way through and buy tools like last time.

thanks

Which engine do you have?

Be prepared to deal with rusty nuts and have new replacements. Got new gaskets?

Thanks for the reply.

its 2.0 tdci 2009.

Any idea what nuts they are, so I can buy replacements in advance just in case.

So you reckon I need one of them handheld blow torch things and loads of wd40?

Will normal spanners and sockets be ok? Or are long ones needed?

Thanks again!

Ps. Not got gaskets.

Ill look for some now. I guess a tube of gasket seal stuff as well would be handy?

Depends how exposed the nuts are as to whether their condition is good enough to use a spanner (I'm not overly familiar with the underside of a Galaxy, but should be similar to my Mondeo, though not looked at the nuts). Would suggest cleaning off loose rust with wire brush and try WD40 first.

Don't put any sealant before the cat/DPF.  Just make sure the gaskets go on straight.
