Crank no start.

Hi guys, I've recently bought a 2012 transit connect, 90t230. I've had a few minor issues that have been sorted with like fuel filter replacement and battery change.. been running sound but two mornings ago I tried started it up and managed to reverse it out of my garage and then it died on me , managed to start up and then it had stalled straight away again. It cranks but will not turn over, it sounds like it wants to but just can't, new spark plugs also but still nothing anything anyone has come across before?

What engine do you have ?

The problem might be to do with the new spark plugs

If it cranks it is turning over, those two terms mean the same thing . Is there a spark?  Do the spark plugs get wet with petrol?

I think it more likely they get wet with diesel 😉

Spark plugs seem ok the old ones where ***** but I do have a bit of diesel leaking from one of the injectors onto them but it's been like that for a while to be honest and this is the first kind of issue with it, the computer sometimes thinks the fuel tank is empty other times it registered the correct information for the fuel..

You have a 1.8 DIESEL and you have put new SPARK PLUGS in it !!!!

Get a mechanic or take it to a garage you need a professional to take a look at this.

To be fair the problems occurred before the new glow plugs went in not spark plugs.

Easy enough to mix up spark plugs and glow plugs when typing tbf.  One of my common ones is writing glovebox instead of gearbox!  Frequently have to correct that when re-reading!

You don't 'need' glowplugs on these.  So if it doesn't catch at all I'd rule them out for now.  Personally, I think you've got air in the fuel system.  Possibly caused by a minor leak or dodgy fuel filter installation.  I'd be either filling the filter (easy enough on these with the canister filter) or using a hand primer to pull some fuel through.

Thanks for understanding what I meant straight away , phones a ***** 🤣

That's possible as I've recently had the fuel filter changed over but this several weeks ago and have also filled the tank up several times too and no problems like this or anything to suggest it was going to happen.. I'll give that a try mate and see what happens.
