Automatic gearbox malfunction

Hi all having trouble with automatic gearbox it was missing 4th gear a week before and then now only drives in 1st,3rd and 5th

comes up with gearbox malfunction. When starting from cold all the gears are working for 1/4 of a mile. It’s got a noisy flywheel aswell my Mehchanic is saying change the egr valve that might cure the problem. The car has done 115k

i hope someone can help me

    Sounds mechanical, with that kind of mileage.

    Has the fluid ever been changed?

    1st remedy with most autobox issues is check change or top up the fluid, should be a nice "cherry" colour with no smell of burning, if theres an accessible filter change that as well looking for any shards in fluid removed or on the magnet in the bottom of the plate. You should be able to diagnose from there, does anything come up in the codes ?

    Yes the gearbox and filter was serviced 2 weeks before the issue.

    the codes coming up are

    p284b shift fork C stuck

    p0734 gear 4 incorrect ratio

    po700 transmission control system

    double check fluid level and reset the faults then 90% of that is a PCM issue if top up is unsuccessful

    Check for battery condition, check for earth condition.

    Check the large multiplug in the LH Front wheel arch for broken wires
