Chrome Trim on MK 4 Focus Vignale Drivers Door.

Featured Replies

Hi

Can anyone assist in giving me advice as to how to remove the chrome trim on the drivers door of a Focus Vignale. The wind caught it and it made contact with a wall putting a small dent in it.

Can this be done without removing the inner door trim.  Thanks

Below is the strip I am asking about if any one has any ideas that would be gratefully appreciated.

These are difficult to remove without damaging them.  I don't take any responsibility for further damage.

Edited - I wrote advice based on a different car earlier, and am now questioning whether the Mk4 Focus may be different.  Hopefully someone else knows for sure, but as you've not had any other replies, I'll give some general advice.

These are usually removed externally by levering them out with plastic trim tools.  Lots of scope for bending them or scratching the door surfaces hence my damage warning.  Start at the black B pillar end, and then you should be able to slide the trim out from the mirror end once you've worked your way along the window gently lifting it away.  The Mk4 may use an additional clip or even a screw so take it very carefully and don't put too much force into anything if you give it a go.

Thanks for the advice I appreciate it. I think in view of the possibility I could cause further damage, I will contact the salesman I dealt with who I got on well with and see if he can sort something out for me.

Once again your reply is much appreciated.
