ST170 A/C & Heater

Featured Replies

Hey!

I have a 54 plate ST170 and I love the car. However, the A/C button doesn't come on when pressed and the heater modes 1,2 and 3 don't work but number 4 does. Any ideas on a fix for these?

Cheers

Alex

Hi mate,,

as for the fan only working on 4 it’ll be the heater fan resistor,, not 100% sure  were it is but it’s behind the glove box,, looks like this ACCBE6DB-40AA-4616-B19F-384281A37A3B.thumb.png.5495b2d2cbf1d343384d79fdfa1b60e3.png

probably why A/C not working at a guess

Very common fault and generally a very easy fix.

Blower fan resistor pack has failed. Take a look on eBay

Ah okay sorry!

The air conditioning may be low on refrigerant gas.

Garages that do AC service are able to test the system for leaks.

if the system can hold pressure it can be refilled. They can also add a dye to the system which glows under UV light. This can be used to find any other minor leaks.

Unfortunately if the system has been low on gas for a while, this can cause the seals to degrade due to lack of use.

Seals, hoses or other parts may need to be replaced. The cost of this can vary a lot depending on what has failed.

Some leaks will also only appear once the system has been refilled and been run for a few weeks. This is exactly what happened to mine.

Regularly using the AC system is the best way to prevent leaks.
