Hot air in car and no air inlet hose

Featured Replies

Hi, I am sorting the items we have found with our new Ford Fusion purchase. Simple so far: only third brake light working, turned out to be both rear lamps with blown brake elements; rear fog lamp out on one side, turned out the lens had filled with water and corroded the fitting at the bottom; toothpaste on the headlamp lenses to clean them as new, etc.

The car was a bargain, so I expected to spend some time (and money).

The latest issue is that when the blower is on and turned to MIN, it still blows hot (including with the air con turned on). When I checked under the bonnet I then found the air inlet hose to the airbox is missing. I’ve ordered a replacement so will have it a few days, but wondered if that would explain why the heater blows hot? No airflow sensed, maybe?

Does anyone know whether that would also stop aircon kicking in?

We had water in one of our rear light fittings - due to flash at the very top of the lens stopping a good seal, remedied with a file.

First thing I would do is check the pollen filter, and the movement of the temperature flap.  Air to the car itself is behind the mesh just aft of the cam cover, and this can also fill up with leaves and crud.  Air con can fail for a number of reasons, needing a regas seems popular !

"Air inlet hose to the airbox is missing" Finis 1306950 ? If you mean the bit from the slam panel to the filter box, it should not affect the heater or aircon, and they regularly fail at the airbox end because the bayonet connection lugs fail.  I did an early visit to a scrappy, and came back with two !

The Fusion is a greatly under estimated car, bigger on the inside than the outside, a good square boot with a flat load floor.

Nuclear fusion ; I first read about this when I was a boy in the '60s, still not generating any electricity as far as I know, just makes a very big bang when fitted to an ICBM !
