bluthooth problems - ford focus station 2012

Featured Replies

Hello,

My Galaxy s20 had been connected to my ford focus bluthooth system until today when it suddenly didn't work. It kept saying activation failed on both phone and car display.

Being desperate, I debonded the connection on my car and did that to other devices. Now the car blutooth system shows "no devices". I can't find a way to scan devices via the car. When I tried two phones, including one that has never been connceted to the car (galaxy s10), the car didn't register the phone (again, maybe there is no scan option?), and the two phones could not detect the car either. I don't know what to do. How do I connect a phone, and specifically one that has been debonded, back to my ford focus s20? Is there a way to reclibrate the media system so that it does scan devices?

Thank you!

You most probably have a dead Bluetooth module

Hello Emma, welcome to the Ford Owners Club

The fault is very probably the Bluetooth module is slowly but surely dying

I think on your model you should find it located above the glovebox. If you completely remove the glovebox and then look up you should be able to see the bluetooth module. It quite often has a Nokia label on it. Remove the module and look on e-bay for the same part number, you will find one for under £20. They are just plug and play, no programming required.

Thank you. So the system - which worked fine 4 hours ago - died? Does that often happen to 2012 Ford Focus st model?

Another question - did I make a mistake debonding the phone? I mean, will it prevent me from pairing that same phobe anew once I get a new blutooth module, or will it not be possible to use that phone paired to my car anymore?

You should be able to unpair and repair as much as you like.

Just like most things that fail they don't give you warning.
