Engine light

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I have a Ford Focus MK4 and the engine light has come on this morning and fan was loud when turned her off. Coolant in her appears to be at the minimum line in tank? Would that be something to do with it?

thanks

Might be...  Certainly can't hurt to add some coolant.

Might also be to do with DPF/GPF regen.  Which engine is it?

Does sound like a DPF regen then.  Would top up the coolant anyway as it's low, but I think you'll need it plugged in to check the fault codes.

Mechanic put it on the comp and it threw up DPF and EGR codes. It said it had been trying to do a regen for 248 miles.. he went to do a Manuel regen but comp told him then there was no fault and car didn't need a regen. Light had went out so he theorised that the car had done the regen in the time I had taken to get home and then drive to his. Light stayed off for yesterday and this morning but has now turned back on 😕

Hmm, well that's good & bad, at least it's nothing major.

Would you be open to buying a Forscan adapter?  That'll save on your garage plug-in costs and hopefully give us a Ford specific code to pinpoint the fault.  Not much else we can suggest without a bit more to go on unfortunately.

So long story short, the light disappeared until yesterday when the engine light came on and now FordPass is saying service engine soon.. Mechanic can't see until next week.
