HOW DO I GET THE PLASTIC COVER OF TO RETREIVE THE LIGHTER PART?

    I can't begin to imagine how the plug on the back of the cigarette lighter would become detached, but no matter.

    If you remove the cigarette lighter from it's plastic housing by pulling and twisting the metal sleeve (difficult I know) then you should be then able to remove the plastic collar which will give enough room to fish the plug back through the hole and reconnect it. Otherwise you are possibly going to have to remove the centre consul.
