Hello guys, I'm undecided of what to choose between 235/40 R18 and 215/50 R17. Currently I have the 195/65 R16 on my Focus Trend Edition( I think it's Zetec in UK) and I want to increase the ground clearance a little bit .

What should I choose in order to not change the calipers(ET) and also increase a little bit the ground clearance?

    If it was my car I would go with the 17" rims. Any thing bigger and the ride will be quite hard.

    The Tyres you have at the moment give you the most ground clearance compared to the other ones that are recommended.

    There are Tyre size calculators online that you can use to check the different sizes.

    Yes you are indeed correct. The existing wheels / tyre combination gives approximately 8mm more ground clearance than the next best size. 👍

    ... and buy 4 new rims? i.e. 7" instead of 6.5"

    Yes, I'll buy 4 new rims of 7", with ground clearance I saw that's only a 7mm difference so not a big deal
