Looking for some help and good advice

Ok, i am looking for used cars, Euro 6, so it seems they're very expensive or way too big to fit on my drive. i have had fords in the past so don't mind Fords but just need it to be reliable for long distance driving and good fuel economy as this Focus claims to be, as the government seem to have our pants down for God knows how long, maybe two trillion long, and i found some Ford Focuses online and there is a Euro 6 1.5 TDI, that is well equipped 6 speed and you get good miles to the gallon, i looked at a few and my mind was set about buying and found a  15 plate Euro 6 for around £4.500 FSH no tax. and in very good condition i then as i always do research and found an article saying that this model and the 1.6 suffer from overheating problems and engine failure and there is a law suit going ahead. so this has put me right off. i'd like another Mondeo but it's just too big for my drive, can anybody tell me if they have had any issues with this engine. or if it's reliable. thanks

Love the link to an American 2020 ...... thing. You would probably be better with a Nissan Leaf.

Hi, sorry to you all, that link was a USA link, but there is a problem with the UK Ecoboost versions the 1.0 and the 1.6 uncovered by the BBC,https://www.whatcar.com/news/ford-ecoboost-engine-recall-–-what-you-need-to-know/n17972  there is also a facebook page here too with lots of people not happy   https://www.facebook.com/groups/FordEcoboostNightmare                                                                                                                                                        The issue has been highlighted by a BBC investigation, which found that "hundreds" of customers said their 1.0-litre Ecoboost engines had overheated. The broadcaster was also contacted about problems involving 1.6-litre Ecoboost engines, which drivers said had burst into flames when they were driving.

Neither of which are a 1.5 diesel

Sounds like a bit more research is needed.  A little knowledge can be a dangerous thing!

EcoBoost is Fords range of turbocharged petrols, nothing to do with the diesels.

If you want something to worry about on the 1.5 TDCI, there was a bad batch of cam sprockets on them, but most of which should now have been recalled & replaced.
