1.4 TDCI 1.4 EGR Issues

Featured Replies

I have a Fusion with the TDCI engine and it has the engine light on. I have put the Autotel computer and comes up as an EGR vault. I have replaced the EGR valve completely with a new one (this is a vacuum one) and I noticed that the vacuum solenoid was disconnected, plugging it in didn't work. I changed that too but I still have the same problem.

The vacuum pipes look the same and do not seem to lose air so a bit stumped. Anyone have any ideas what I should be looking for? I am a bit stumped.

What is the exact fault code?  EGR codes are usually pretty specific.

Ah, that's about the least specific EGR code there is!

As a vac controlled EGR, there's no voltage change for the PCM to determine the valves actual position compared to the requested position.  I would suggest that in this case, the PCM uses the MAF values to work out EGR position.  So the MAF is the next place I'd be looking.  You can probably watch it's live data on that scanner.
