Broken pipe whilst chainging oil 1.6 TCDI 2012

Featured Replies

Hello I knocked a pipe whislt tightening up the oil filter housing.

Not sure what exactly the pipe is for its a rubber hose that has a harder plastic junction that has cracked. I now have P 2598 code (Turbocharger boost control position performance low) which came on after revving the engine post oil change.

Anyone got any ideas could this be bodged some how or do I need to replace the pipe? If so anyone know what it is called as google searches havent got me a definite answere yet..

Post some pictures and someone will tell you what it is

You need to replace that...  It's the main feed from the vacuum pump.  As well as lacking turbo boost, you'll also be lacking brake boost!

Cheers thanks for the help!

As mentioned it’s a vacuum pipe. The brake boost / servo vacuum pump is the pipe behind the broken one.   I do not know if vac leak on one pipe compromises the vac on the other pipe. Or if the pump kind of creates two separate vacuums. If you get the broken bit of pipe out of the rubber pipe (screw in a wood screw and pull out with pliers) it looks like you might be able to push the plastic pipe into the rubber.  Whether it is good enough I don’t know , probably not good enough for permanent but may be temporary. As it is vac not pressure it won’t push itself out

Did as you suggested plus used a few cable ties to compress the rubber hose where I pusshed in the plastic pipe. Cleared codes and seems to work without any problems!

Result thanks alot!
