Ford KeyFree - Key not detected

Featured Replies

2017 1.0 ST-Line, no previous issues until today when I got the above message 4 times, despite having the key in my pocket. The first 3 were with the original key but the last was with the spare key, so I'm happy it's not the keys that are faulty. I did replace the battery in both keys about 2 weeks ago, but have had no issues until today.  Anyone come across this ??

(The car did start after I either took the key out of my pocket or locked and unlocked the car)

When you say you changed the batteries, to what?

Unless you paid for top Energizer, Panasonic or Duracell 2030s change them again.

Cheers Dave...no I didn't, I work for a motor factors and they were stock GB Premium CR2032 car key batteries... GB Premium Car Key Batteries UK | Granada Batteries

Also, when you have the battery out, test the voltage with a multimeter. It should be pushing out 3.3v and will work fine down to 3v, below that, you'll likely have issues. A 'new' battery is still worth testing.

So I swapped them yesterday for Energiser Ultimate Lithium batteries (£7 for 2 batteries at Asda rather than £1.88 for the GB ones from work), but I've only done a very short journey today, so will see how they go this week.🤞

Stephen...I binned the old batteries before reading your suggestion, apologies.

No problem, I use to do the same but have now got into the habit of testing every 'old' battery I take out of everything. Saves much hassle later and satisfying to know when the 'old' battery is 'flat' so new one much more likely to solve any issue...
