AFTERMARKET PARKING SENSOR + REAR VIEW CAMERA

Featured Replies

Hi guys, newbie here.

A few months ago I bought a used Ford Fiesta Titanium from a dealership, it's a 2018 model but it only had 5000 km (3000 miles).

It came with neither parking sensors nor rear view camera. My dream would be to have both them, however I can understand that 8 sensors (4 front - 4 rear) and a rear view camera would cost me quite a bit.

Furthermore, my biggest problem would be where I could get these items and especially how I could install them.

I have quite a bit of free time this summer, so to at least save money on manual labor I wouldn't mind to install them on my own, however as I said I don't have the right knowledge and I haven't found many useful infos online (the only quite useful thing I found is a video of the complete rear view camera installation process on a 2020 Ford Puma).

Last but not least, it scares me a bit to pierce my bumpers myself to install parking sensors, because I could damage them - again, my fear comes from unavailability of online tutorials or instructions, I wouldn't mind doing that with the right informations.

Does any of you have tips for me on what I could do, where I could find the sensors and the camera and some online tutorials that explain how to do all this?

Thanks.

Hi Giacomo,

This question has come up a few times before and I remember spotting this camera:

Also this thread on fitting genuine rear sensors might be of interest:

Thank you very much for your reply. I'll look for the exact same components of the rear view kit on eBay or AliExpress, and I'll try to install that (with luck I should be able to stay under 100€)

As for the sensors, do you suggest any model or any type of product? I mean, do you know what I should look for? And have you seen any video or tutorial that explains how to do the cable management?

This morning I saw a video of a guy piercing his rear bumper, and I also read that the bumper should have internal marks indicating where to do the job. Do you recommend taking it off, or do you just find simpler to mark them externally with a meterstick and extreme precision?

Lastly, do you recommend retrofitting them on front too, given that it doubles the cost and there is even less infos online about front sensors?

Can't comment from experience of fitting camera/ rear sensors as I factory ordered my present car with both fitted. On other cars I have had the X-vision aftermarket rear sensors fitted at the dealer.

I had a previous model Fiesta with front sensors but (personal opinion) I don't think they are necessary or worth the trouble/expense of retrofitting.

Another earlier thread below - it includes  a location guide for rear sensors, but the X-vision, not the genuine ones. Also some views as to whether the rear sensors are really needed if you have the camera.
