And use a 6 point socket, not a 12 point, with a torque wrench.

Is it me or have tyre prices gone through the roof? 205 50 R17's are about £100 each!

In 2005, I use to pay £150 for a 225/40/18 Bridgestone LOL

I wouldnt know I've NEVER bought a brand new tyre, for any car i've ever owned

Yep.  Rubber supply issues have been occurring for the last couple of years now.

Tyre disposal fees have also increased considerably, if you're paying for an 'all in' service.

Interesting, I have NEVER bought a used tire before. Just something I was brought up with. Now, I have no objection to buying used parts for pretty much every other area of my car, but tires, I like to know they are factory fresh, and any emergency stops they've had are made by me...

How can all the nuts be knackered? What on earth did the previous driver do ?

Them impact wrench dont help. Original nuts aren't the best. If you lose 1 cap you end up using 19mm and 18mm sockets just to take wheel off. Can be annoying. Maybe previous driver decided to take all off and just stick with 18mm.

You can get some good replacements on ebay, but dont go for painted ones cos impact wrench will flake it off eventually and then they rust a bit and look a mess.

I have heard > Germany has strict rules about tyres. Drivers keep buying new tyres as the summer ones cannot be used during winter. Those 2nd hand tyres are then transported to the UK and end up in all these 2nd hand tyres shops in and around you. In fact, just yesterday, I saw a lorry at one of these places with a German name on the side and tyres were being thrown out one by one.

Cool! Their 'green' agenda is in tatters, and I'm delighted that we can benefit from their scraps. In 40 years of driving I have never had summer/winter tires LOL
