Bonnet open message

I have a 55 plate Focus Ghia and the warning panel on the dash is saying "bonnet open" even though it's shut properly. 

I assume that the switch on the slam panel attached to the catch is not properly connecting to the bonnet when it's dropped. I just cleaned it with WD40 and pressed it in a few times, it is very stiff. 

Does it meet with the nut on the bonnet catch? If so I could stick a rubber pad on the nut to make better contact, unless you guys know how to adjust it.
