I've been looking around for a dashboard mat for my Focus mk3.5. Has any one had any experience with one and can recomend the best type. Some have stick on velcro pads others just say they have anti-slip backing.

It is to stop the glare and protect the dash from the sun. See picture.

Yes I have one on each of my Mk2 cars.

They are great, no bright reflections from the inside of the screen when driving particularly on sunny days.

My two came direct from China some years ago £,12 each if I remember correctly. (Before Brexit)

Still black and not faded.

Hope you don't mind me pointing out that China isn't in the E.U. so they should still be available 😉

An explanation of the Brexit bit.

After Brexit, as I remember, there was a change in what could be imported without paying VAT and import tax. This affected those  things brought in from the remains of the EU but I have this nagging concern that there was some carry over affecting imports from other parts of the world as well.

Import taxes are a mystery to me, so if we have an expert on this subject, that person can speak up and put me straight.

Me too.  In the last few months I've bought items from Germany and the US, expecting both of them to get held up at customs and having to pay some sort of charge at this end...yet both arrived with no problem at all.  Germany item arrived within 2 days!  US items arrived within 7 days.

Just one other question. Was your mats none slip or held on with velcro sticky pads?

Well, my mats came with the velcro sticky pads which would not stick to the dashboard top. I gave the sites for the pads a through going over with several solvent from my garage shelf but it made little difference, I think the dashboard top is made with some cheap jack version of non stick plastic.

Actually the mats stay in place reasonably well on their own. Might be something to do with my non boy racer style of driving.
