What year and mileage?

Private sale or dealer?

Also I assume it's manual rather than DCT with the mention of a clutch fault?

Ok, in that case the clutch does sound like a realistic possibility.  I take it the car wouldn't move or stall with the clutch fully up in 1st gear?

First thing to do would be to contact Evans Halshaw immediately.  Clutches are wear & tear parts, so unlikely to be covered by Ford warranty.  But it should be covered under the 'buyers' rights warranty if you've only just bought it.

Hello yes it would literally just stall the man only got it going by giving it everything it had and even then it was just about getting there and how long does the buyers rights last as I bought on the 12th

If it stalls then it's not a slipping clutch.  Sounds more like either a lack of engine power or a sticking brake.

Does it drive ok on the flat?  The 1.0 doesn't have much torque...a heavy Active model, loaded with people & luggage, on a steep hill, could just be normal unfortunately.

Other members on here can offer better advice on buying rights, but I believe it's 6 months.  Still best to contact them asap though.

Yes its fine on flat but on any hill it is very slow of the get go even if its justa slight incline now it stinks when driving like burnt and also would you recommend getting it remapped so it ups hp and torque

How much does she weigh?  (Joking of course  )

The burnt smell could be a clutch fault then.  Or it could be brakes burning if one of those is sticking.  I think in this case it's probably best if you let a garage physically test the clutch rather than us trying to guess via the internet.  Ideally the garage you bought it from if you live locally.

If the problem was a binding brake (hill start assist fault?) the burnt smell is probably due to the guy slipping the clutch while caning the engine. It won't have done it any favours but the smell should go eventually.
