Focus Mk4 Tyres

Featured Replies

After discovering we have a very slow puncture in one of the tyres and have found the culprit this morning. A nice big fat rounded head nail right in the middle of the tread.

The fronts are due to be replaced in October so I'm considering changing both the front two tyres instead of having the puncture repaired.

I was 100% certain that the Focus was fitted with PS4's but upon a closer look this morning they are PS3's 😳

So after rambling along, did anyone else find PS3's on their 2019 Mk4 Focus ?

Should I be going for the PS4's or the latest PS5's or simply stick with what's already on PS3's ?

I see no reason to put the older tyres on, a PS3 is likely to be manufactured quite a while ago

Unless the PS4 is significantly cheaper I'd just go for PS5, especially as it should last longer than the PS4.

Presumably you aren't waiting until October to replace the tyres, or keep the nail in until then? I wouldn't!

I'm guessing that you are monitoring the wear of the tyres to get the predicted change point - so what you might want to do is a straight "cost benefit" - e.g. how much to repair the tyre now v. the loss of cash value of the tread remaining on the tyre, x2 of course since you will be losing the 3 months of wear on 2 tyres!

No price difference between the PS4's and PS5's both available locally.

Lol, no the tyre would be repaired.

Was only saying October as thats when the car goes in for its 6 monthly oil change.

The front tyres are not quite down to the wear limit as of yet.

It's not an issue to have them changed tomorrow if need be.

How many miles did you get from your Pilot Sport 3's?

Just shy of 19k on the Fronts but they are not down to the wear indicatorsas of yet.. The rears have at least another 3.5mm on them.
