Faulty Mk2 boot handle - photos to show why!

Featured Replies

I am now on my 3rd boot handle, the original Ford one, and 2 consecutive cheap Ebay ones (at £7 each inc P&P) Got it changed over last week and out of interest, I had a look at the faulty one more closely. (I have already bought another new Ebay one in preparation of the inevitable, and will now use a mass of clear sealant on the rubber boot where it meets the body of the handle to see if it makes any long term difference). Maybe I'll get more than 2 years out of it.

This is what it looks like new...

This is the state of the one just taken out, as you can see, yes, it looks grubby but the rubber boot seems to be intact.....

However, when you remove the rubber boot, this what the inside looks like...

The next boot handle ready and waiting, now with a nice 'gorilla' seal around the rubber, hopefully making it a bit more waterproof... 😃
