rustic
To fit the new alternator in position, I need to free-off the tension on the inside drive belt, ie, that nearest the engine - there are two drive-belts on this model. Is this achieved by turning the centre hub by socket, or similar tool? Not fitted new belts before. Thank you for any advice, it will be appreciated. TomsFocus
They are stretch belts on this engine. Designed to be single use, cut off and replaced. However you can ease them off and back on carefully using a thin but firm tool. I have a tiny pry bar, bought from Poundland about 10 years ago, that's ideal for this.
rustic
Tom, thank you for your reply, I was not aware of 'stretch belts'. I reckon I could remove the old alternator with the belt round it, and fit new alternator with belt round it.
