Rattle/squeaky/Grindy noise when off the throttle in gear

Featured Replies

Hi everyone, I’m new on here but I have an issue and thought someone on here may be able to help. I’ve recently noticed a noise which is I’m struggling to describe, it’s probably more than a rattle but not quite a grinding sound. It happens when the car is in gear and I lift off the throttle, the faster I’m going the more noise it makes and disappears about 1.5k revs. I’ve no idea what it might be, gearbox, clutch/flywheel or maybe even a pulley. The car is a 2006 Galaxy 1.8tdci (125) with just over 150k on the clock. Thanks

could be heat shield coming lose under the car

Thanks bud, I’ll check the heat shields but the noise changes with the revs. You never know though, it’ll be great if it’s something that easy.
