Degas Pipe

Featured Replies

Just for peace of mind I'm thinking of changing the degas pipe that is prone to splitting. I'm sure it has been replaced with the upgrade by ford as no outstanding issues are on Etis. I'm looking at putting the Mk3.5 pipe on as I heard that this was best option. Can anyone confirm that this is best option, and what part number I am looking for please. Any pics would be helpful to.

Thanks guys

Yeah, definitely the best option.  Part numbers and pictures shown in Wilco's post here.

Ahh, thank you. i'll have a look into that.

I did my daughters a few months ago. One of the pipes was unobtainium from Ford but I managed to find one on eBay from another dealer. Its a simple job other than arguing with the spring clips that are glued in place. The trick is that they are pre-latched open and just need tweaking to make them close (you need to be aware of this). The one below the turbo is a bit of a swine but I managed the job in under an hour (much less).

While you are there also change your header tank. Hers had a big crack in the bottom that I could not see until I took it out. Apparently this is a common issue.

She managed to drive over 200 miles with that small bore degas pipe split and did not cook the engine. I still dont know how to this day.
