Washer pump or is it BCM?

Featured Replies

Hi

Windscreen washer pump failed yesterday, both front and rear.

Fuses 77 and 82 are OK

Wipers work front and back

I hear no noise from under the bonnet.

I have looked at the BCM and can't see any signs of dampness or corrosion.

I have removed the connector with the blue catch/cover exposing pins with a green and orange inner and that looks pristine. But I haven't removed the 7 plugs that are connected to the BCM "backboard" because I don't know how! Looks as though I should flick the catch at the lower end of each of them upwards (there's a little movement) - but I have tried that with a light touch and nothing releases. I don't want to break them....

Q1. do I just need to be more brutal or should I be doing something else to remove the clips

Q2. If, as seems likely, I need a new pump, do I need to remove the bumper, or just the wheel arch liner, or the wheel AND wheelarch liner or just the headlight - any advice gratefully received as the amount of work involved will influence whether I attempt the replacement myself.

Thank you.

Yes the clips when you pull them it's like it opens a clamp which releases them from the pins. I was worried myself when doing them and then thought feck it and they came off easy. Most say it easier to remove the bumper but it can be accessed via the arch liner and wheel for easier access.

Many thanks, Ian.  I'll have a go via the wheel arch liner first and see how I get on.

Pretty sure I need a new pump, having established that the switch works.

Any experience or advice on which pump to choose?

I found this supplier which appears to give me a choice, all less than a Ford one for £101

Many thanks
