Sync3 mem_err01

Featured Replies

Hi everyone. I own a Focus 1.0L MY2019 . A few months back I had a map update about 8gb size. I tried to update with a usb drive but I kept getting the message "mem_err01". After a long search on the internet for a solution, I just gave up. Yesterday I had a sync3 update about 3.3gb size. I tried again with a usb drive and it was done with no problems. After I uploaded the xml file on Fords servers, the first 8gb map update was gone and I had a 23.9 gb update. According to the xml file (if I am reading it correctly) I have 16gb free space. I am currently on F10 maps. I don't know what Is going on. Will I be able to update my maps or am I going to have to use google maps? I apologise for my English, it is not my first language.

It does the 23.9GB update in two halves. So it only needs about 11-12GB free.

I am not really sure but does the following means I have 16gb free space?

<d2p1:PartitionHealth type="/fs/images/" total="54G" available="16G"/>

As far as I know, yes.

I'm in an identical situation as the OP, I too gave up after the mem_err01

Would love to hear what happens when trying to do the 23.9 gb map update .

Yesterday I updated Sync. I will try to do the 23.9gb update next week. It requires about 2 hours so I have to make time. I will let you know what happens.

So I updated my maps to F11. It took a little over an hour. I downloaded the xml file with the help of the interrogator and I uploaded it to Fords servers. Now i have another map update of 9,1gb. Also the xml file says that I have 29gb free space (d2p1:PartitionHealth type="/fs/images/" total="54G" available="29G"/>) which doesn't make any sense. I give up. I'll just use apple CarPlay. Here are photos of my current software versions.

It takes 2-2.5 hrs for the map update. Sounds like you only did half of it so it’s trying to give you the rest of it.

I decided to go the Cyanlabs route and have it reformat the sync system and start from fresh.

It worked very well, everything up to date and running fine (so far)  took maybe 90 mins in total.

After setting the wifi back up and share with ford, even the ford sync website says my maps are up to date.

I did it. It took a little over two hours. Didn't notice any differences either on sync or maps. Now all is up to date. It's strange that the error is gone by itself. Anyway I think my 2019 Focus will not have any more updates.

Cyanlabs has the ability to only select the countries that you actually need.

The European map material is divided in several submaps. Each submap contains a few countries. You can choose which countries you need and select the corresponding submaps. This will reduce the time of the update significantly (less than 20 minutes). On low memory APIM versions loading only the submaps that are actually required will also improve system speed and responsiveness.

Since each submap can be loaded onto the system separately it is also possible to perform the map update in several stages. This is especially useful on vehicles that only do short trips.
