Rear parking aid speaker (rear sounder) fault B1B5

Featured Replies

I have a UK Mark II Ford Galaxy (2011 petrol powershift) and suddenly neither the front nor rear parking aid sensors are working. When I turn on the engine, there is a 3 second beep from what I assume is the front speaker. If I go into reverse gear, I again get the beep and the sensor button on the dash flashes for a few seconds. If I go into forward gear, I just get the beep but no flashing on the dash but if I press the button, it again flashes for a few seconds.

I checked for error codes and got B1B5:01 -2F Rear Sounder and on live data that the rear and front parking aid sensors were inactive. I also got a fail for PAM - Parking Aid Module, but I think this related to the Rear Sounder. The sensors themselves seem to be OK when checked with my OBD2 code reader.

On the assumption that there is a fault with the Rear Sounder (or the wiring to and from it), I am trying to locate where it is. I have looked in the right and left side cubby holes at the back of the car but can't see it there.

Does anyone know where the rear parking aid speaker (Rear Sounder) is in my Galaxy?

Cheers,

H.

Looks like a few of us are chasing the same issue.

I have stripped the D and C pillars and looked all around the roof but couldn't find it.

Yes it seems everyone is looking for the sounder and so far it's doing a very good job of staying hidden.

Just a thought - have you removed the PAM and looked on the side of it that is normally up against the vehicle ?

in the manual it says there is a buzzer located under the rear luggage compartment trim. No picture unfortunatley

One member of this forum @bemarc has just found the sounder after he gave in and bought the Ford service manual.

On his car the sounder was deep inside the rear headlining which he had already searched before he had the manual.
