EGR delete on 1.6 tdci 2008

Featured Replies

I am trying to find out if anyone have done this with great luck on this engine with the code HHDA 90 HP. I have got some results from my searching, but no one answers if this will make the EML scream against you and throw codes or if it will run absolutely fine. Some drill holes on 5 mm through the plate and some don't. I guess that might be the dirrerence between the HHDA and GPDA. And what does it do with the emissions? Will it fail through MOT or NOT?😋

I changed the butterfly valve last weekend and not to any surprise it was filled with carbon build up. Want to block the EGR and clean or put on a new inlet manifold.

It will throw codes.  Some bring on the EML eventually, some don't.  (Presumably due to PCM map, rather than engine code).

It will pass a UK MOT in terms of smoke test.  But should fail if the tester can see that the EGR system has been tampered with in any way.  Rules will be different for other countries.

If you're fitting a blank, don't fit one with holes in.  That's a compromise that's really the worst of both options, will still throw codes due to reduced airflow, and will still allow soot through the holes.

The better option is mapping it out.  No visible tampering.  No fault codes.  And you can have some extra power added at the same time.

Thanks a lot for your reply. If it don't work, it's an easy job to take it off again, so it's worth a try.

I'm having an issue with my Ford Smax mk 1 1.8tdci struggling to start, it starts after a few turns of the key, I've plugged my scanner in an its showing (P141A MANUFACTURER CONTROL) and (P0489 EXHAUST GAS RECIRCULATION CONTROL CIRCUIT A LOW). Now my question is would Blanking the EGR bypass these and help the car start 1st time ?
