Steering Wheel Swaps - Mk4 onto Mk3.5?

Featured Replies

After adding the Zetec-S / St-Line Bodykit to my Focus, been looking on eBay at Steering Wheels.

My car is a Mk3.5 (2015) Titanium so has the additional Cruise Control functions on the steering wheel.

The flat bottom steering wheels for the Mk3.5 with the cruise buttons are pretty rare, or expensive.

However, have seen Mk4 flat bottom steering wheels for much less, but the cruise buttons are now within the wheel itself, not an add-on.

Basic question is, does anyone know if the Mk4 steering wheel would go straight onto a Mk3.5, or is there anything esle woudl need changed, and has anyone done it?

Cheers

The MK4 steering wheel and airbag will physically fit into a MK3.5 without any problems.

The electronics however are a complete different story. The resistance circuits of the buttons have different values. Severe modifications of the circuit boards are required to make it work. It may even be easier to design and produce custom circuit boards.

So definitely not plug and play.

Cheers for the reply, I'll just keep looking and hope for a Mk3.5 Flat Bottom Wheel to become available at a decent price.

EDIT:

Would a Kuga Mk2.5 ST-Line Wheel fit a Focus Mk3.5? The wheels look visually identical, but again, some of the Kuga steering wheels seem to be selling cheaper than the equivalent focus version?
