Should I disconnect the battery?

Featured Replies

Should I disconnect the car battery before replacing the  gps antenna behind the dashboard (2011 mk3 focus).

It's not really necessary but it will do no harm if you would like to. Only disconnect the negative battery lead if you do decided to.

Do you have the radio code ?

No code on MK3

Thanks for that 👍 I get the impression that disconnecting the battery erases the memory on the engine management system🤔

Absolutely not.

Had the battery off my Mk3 Titanium recently - the only thing I had to do afterwards was reset the electric windows.

You might lose the trip counter MPG and radio presets if the battery is left off for a while.

I wouldn't disconnect the battery for this particular job myself.  But then I hate resetting one-touch on all 4 windows.
