Transit 2001 key & lock problem

Featured Replies

Hi everyone, I hope someone here can help. I drive a 2001 Ford Transit (to be specific: 260S FD VAN 100 LR 4.23) which has been converted to a camper van. I bought it last year and the locks have been malfunctioning for a while. I went to my local Ford dealer, who told me my key is so worn out that the locks don't work properly anymore. Since I don't have the key codes, they can't order a new key for this set of locks and the key itself is too worn to allow copying. Only solution is if I find a set of locks with a key that can be installed in the van. I tried local car scraps but so far no luck. Anyone have any tips where to find a set of used locks for cheap?

The van has two door locks (passenger and driver side), ignition switch lock, and lock for the fuel cap (last one would be a bonus).

If you remove one of your key barrels, you can take it apart to work out the code.

I assume it is the Tibbe type of key.

If you post a couple of close up photos of the key blade it is quite possible we can tell you the key number.
