Why when using Chrome do emojis appear in B&W?

Featured Replies

I was just experimenting using Chrome (rather than FireFox), and noticed that when responding on this forum, and using an emoji, they all appear in B&W. Is there a setting I need to change? (Chrome v106.0.5249.91)

Have you bought a colour licence ? 🤣

have you tried updating chrome?

edit: it seems you are already on latest one.

thought i would try mine and mine is colour.

I find by using the Emojis within the reply box freezes the reply screen and blocks the option to post the reply. So no reply gets posted. I now use the Emojis on the phone keyboard instead.

No idea what option there is for Laptop use though.

It must be a very unique issue to me, as googling the issue returns nothing! (Obviously I get full colour emojis in FireFox, so something in Chrome is causing it...) 😢

So it's an intermittent issue, have you tried charging the laptop with the Maypole 😆 then do a restart .....sorry couldn't resist 🤣

After a quick google...no idea if if this works but it's been a Chrome browser issue since January (?)

Type in chrome://flags in the URL bar - hit enter. Search Emoji in the search bar. You should find Emoji Context Menu > select Enabled.

Many thanks, I did actually find that info, but on getting into the 'flags', doing a search for 'emojis' return nothing...

From what I've read, it first appeared in 2017 on windows 7 and has since appeared on Windows 10 intermittently.

Most suggestions have been to go back to the previous version of chrome.

Thought I'd give this thread another bump in case someone new sees it - same problem, Chrome emojis do not appear correctly, Firefox is perfect, though I want to start using Chrome as FireFox is become too glitchy.

Many people are switching from Chrome to Firefox now, with Manifest v3 on the horizon.

I thought it was a video game!

In a nutshell, Manifest v3 is the new version of API for browser extensions.

Google are severely limiting the ability of ad-blockers to function. I wonder why...
