Hi, 

Before i start changing parts thought id ask and see if anyone knows, my car struggles when asking for a bit more power, its like it has no idea what gear its in and struggles and then its okay after a few seconds, during this i can also here like a popping noise underneath and some times the engine management light comes on but only flashes a few times and then goes out, mechanic can't find the fault of what it could be. 

Any help would be great

Lets start with a bit of information first.

What size engine and is it petrol or diesel ?    --   Is it manual or automatic ?

So DTC's will have been stored. You need to read the codes so we can offer some advice.

Use only FORScan software so that all the Ford specific DTC's will be read. Do not use generic or other third party code readers which are very unlikely to get all the codes.

You now need to use FORScan to read the DTC's.

I expect you may have a fault with the Traction Control Module (TCM). There are known problems with the wiring to the connectors of the TCM, wiring inside the connector and also poor earth points. Without the codes you will chase this fault all over and spend a fortune.

Yes. It will just say "EML not presently set" next to the DTC
