AWD Malfunction warning light on my 2012 kuga

Featured Replies

AWD MALFUNCTION WARNING LIGHT has just come up on my dash... and the code that's coming up on the computer is 1889.... can any one help before I take to ford...its a 2012 kuga manual

Haldex pump and filter are needing replaced. You might get away with just having the oil and filter changed, but it is such a pain to do that you may as well replace the Haldex pump at the same time.

I would advise to properly read and understand the error codes first. My friends Kuga came up with the AWD malfunction error, but after reading the codes it showed some other errors relating to the DPF not regenerating...one related to the DPF pressure so this was the first thing I changed as it was easy and I just happen to have the old one from my Mondeo (which was changed when I had DPF issues, but kept it). In this case it solved the problem with the regen but also the AWD malfunction. It seemed that as it was not regenerating it knocked out the AWD too for some reason.
