Mk 4 2.0 Ecoblue 150bhpTuning options (Not just a remap), diff between 150 & 180bhp?

Featured Replies

Hey Guys, I'm new to the forum,

I've recently brought a 2019 Ford Focus 2.0 Ecoblue Auto and the car isn't a bad car but it's really underpowered, needed a car so brought this and on the test drive it didnt feel too bad but after a second of pull the power completely dies off. I'll lose thousands if I chop it in so wanting to see if anything can be done or id just be throwing money away trying to get more power.

I've been trying to find out what the difference is between the 150bhp and 180bhp 2.0 ecoblue engines with little luck, if anyone knows please let me know.

I have seen that you can buy uprated turbos but are any engine modifications bar a custom map needed for this?

Has anyone got any experience in tunning these engines? or do most people just sell up and get the ST?

Cheers,

Mark

That doesn't sound right at all.

The 2.0 Ecoblue auto is meant to be rapid

There was an issue with injector problems, I'd get those checked out first.

Superchips do a remap for that

https://www.superchips.co.uk/ECU-Remap/Ford/Focus-MK4-2017/Diesel/Vignale-2-148-bhp/ej19ugp

POWER BHP

Actual Tested

ORIGINAL 147.00BHP
MODIFIED 187.00BHP
DIFFERENCE +40.00BHP

TORQUE NM

Actual Tested

ORIGINAL 370.00Nm
MODIFIED 422.00Nm
DIFFERENCE +52.00Nm

It must have come with some warranty?

I'd get it in to check it out

Thank you for getting back to me, I don't think anything is up with the car I've just come from a 260bhp petrol to a 150bhp diesel. I went to overtake a ford transit van the other week, but the van drive put his foot down so I had to pull back in behind him as the focus is slower than the transit lol

I notice the 180ps 2.0 ecoblue engine in the 2019 diesel st2 remaps to 212bhp where mine only remaps to 187bhp so there must be some difference, turbo maybe or injectors? I ask as if it is just injectors, I'd rather fit them before a map and get the extra power.

It's not so much the 260BHP drop to 150BHP, the diesel has 370NM of torque.

I've seen POV drives in these and people raved about them and they were rapid.

Something is wrong, get it checked out

Yes, I agree. I've had several 140 -150ps diesels in my time, and they were excellent for overtaking  (unless that Transit was a stealthy V8 conversion job!)

Transit van's can be quite quick. My Focus 2.0 diesel automatic just couldn't get past this van even in sport mode.

If you play that at 1/4 speed that's just what it was like hahaha

Took it on the motorway yesterday for a bit of a blast as someone suggested the dpf filter and a good drive would help, if you plant it 50mph to 70mph takes about 12 seconds but feels like 12 minutes lol Ill book it in ford for a service and a check over. Doesnt sound like they are that tunable so if still not happy ill get rid. Thanks for the response's guys.
