Morning all, 

my first post and my first Ford! Recently bought a 2015 Ford Focus S with the 1.0T eco boost engine. 

It comes equipped with the Sync 1 unit as standard. Apart Spotify and DAB, it doesn’t seem to do a great deal else so… 

looking for advice on:

upgrading to a new Sync unit or upgrading to a Sony/Pioneer/Kenwood type unit with similar screen size to the Sync 2/3. 
 

I’ve spent a few days reading bits online but:

Can anyone recommend models of after market manufacture units that will fit and/or which of the Sync units are easiest to fit? 
 

which would you go for, Sync or other non-Ford brand? 
 

Im pretty handy when it comes to cars and not afraid get stuck into electrics etc. so looking for some initial advice on which route to pursue before I start obsessively looking to buy the parts and watching tutorials!

It is possible to replace your Sync 1 system with a 2-Din audio system, but visually this is not the most appealing solution.

An original display (FCDIM) is required so that functions such as PDC and Active Park Assist (both image and sound) remain functioning. With this conversion you get a 2nd display above the 2-Din audio system.

I recommend to install SYNC 3.

have you done the swap yourself before? I’m assuming it would be easier with a Sync system than a different brand??
