instrument cluster 2011 ti-vct

Featured Replies

i have a 2011 ti-vct that keeps cutting out. i have had it checked at ford and it doesn't need updates. there are no stored error codes and no warning lights on the dash. ford said they suspect the problem is with the dash clocks disconnecting and quoting an arm and a leg to change it but cannot guarantee this will solve the problem. can i just get a second-hand unit and swop it over. if i find one with same part number and close enough milage can i fit it will it just plug and play or will it need to be coded to the car.

Does this happen just driving along or when it returns to idle ie coming up to junctions?

when coming to junctions or sometimes when moving in stop start traffic. started doing it when i stop put in reverse to park now as well. ford said it had all updates etc.

Without codes, my first free option would be to gain access to the throttle body, hold open the flap and give it a good wipe around particularly where the flap would naturally sit. Try to get all around every side. Doesnt take much crud to stop the tiny amount of air needed at idle, after all it is 11 years old now.

Oh and check the oil level, if you havent already.

I have had both of these minor things cause this issue.

thanks have just had it serviced so the oil better be ok. will give the throttle body a good clean at the weekend. will take it off as only 4 screws and fit a new seal while im at it

thought id get back about this subject. finally convinced my local ford dealer to put it on his computer to see if there were any updates or codes that were causing the problem cost me £50. they found absolutely nothing wrong, no codes fixed or pending and no outstanding updates.  cleaning the throttle body as helped it no longer completely stalls out be does have a slight bounce on rev counter also, always starts 1st time but sometimes seems very flat when pulling away and i get a pop in the exhaust for a few seconds the its all ok again,

Maybe you also have a sĺight misfire when pulling away, could be plugs, leads , coil pack,  difficult to say without physically experiencing it.

Also did you clean the actual flap aswell not just the bore this can get a small collection? The fact that it has stopped it stalling suggests your on the right track. Generally speaking the throttle body adaption should be carried out with diagnostic after cleaning. This will do it istelf after a period of time do things might improve further if it has only been done withing a couple of weeks.
