Reverse Mirror Tip

Featured Replies

Morning chaps (and chapesses - must be inclusive!),

I've got a 19 plate Titanium X auto and love it!

Previous car was a Skoda Octavia L&K, loved that too but wanted a change.

On the Skoda, when I selected REVERSE, the left hand door mirror would tip (angle) down a little so I could see more of the ground when reversing.

I can't find an option for this on the Focus, is it possible? (using FORscan?)

TIA,

Mick

I don't know if this feature is on your car (had an old Merc that had it, now I press the mirror adjustment button LOL), however, I'm confident that if you don't have electric seats your on a non starter. The mirror needs a 'memory' option to store the setting.

Door modules hold mirror memory, as with one-touch window memory, there's no need for electric seats.

I don't think it's an option on the Focus though, just some of the larger Fords.  Should've stuck with VAG lol!

Reverse mirror tilt only works if you have electric memory seats

Is that Ford specific?  All of the VAG cars I've had had auto reverse dip without electric seats.

yes👍

OK,

I have electric seats, but not memory seats... I assume because of Keyless???

That's a very odd assumption??

No more odd than needing memory seats for mirror dip function!   You're right though, keyless fobs are still individually 'tagged' so can be used for memory settings.

Memory seats weren't an option on the Focus.  So if mirror dip is tied to them, then that explains why the Focus doesn't have it.  Seems daft when every Golf, A3 and Octavia has them with manual seats though.

I agree.... but there has to be a 'memory' somewhere so that the mirror returns to its previous position after dipping.

One touch windows also need a memory...that's not stored in the seats though. :whistling:

I enabled this on a Passat with an OBD II tool and you are right. The mirror would dip but always return to a random position. Googling why it is because 'memory mirrors' had to be present. I turned the feature back off lol. The Passat was an SE Business so only had manual seats.

I have a Golf Match with manual seats and the mirror returns fine.  Was factory enabled.  Also had a Leon FR Sport with mirror dip and manual seats.  Did your Googling suggest where the mirror memory is stored in the Passat?

Doesn't matter now, no longer got the Passat lol

Fair point.

I'd still be interested to know though.  Will have to do some research myself lol.

My Octavia was a '12 plate, memory seats, normal remote key entry and key start.

I thought it might be connected with Keyless as the car wouldn't be able to determine which key settings to use if both keys were in the car. I know you could probably set a default ( as you can with the phone - mine is the default), but if my wife is driving, and we both have our keys, she doesn't want my settings. (I suppose it could be done on buttons, not tied to a key).

Ah well, just a thought that it might be an option, I do have the parking camera so it isn't a big problem!

I also had it on a Golf GTD (before the Passat) but this was factory enabled and worked seamlessly, hence trying to enable it on the Passat.

Found this on VW forum, so perhaps a specific mirror type was fitted and the memory is in there?
