Kangarooing 2.0 petrol Focus

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I'm currently driving a 2009 Focus 2.0litre petrol and I'm finding it very jumpy in first gear. It doesn't matter if I use slight throttle or if I floor it, the car always seems to kangaroo. I've been trying to find the perfect point on the clutch to get it to pull away smoothly but in the last 5 months of owning it, I've had no luck. My other car is a Mazda 3 which is also a 2.0litre n/a and it's as smooth as silk. I've driven a mk2.5 Focus with the 1.6 petrol and while it felt underpowered, it pulled away very smoothly and was pleasant to drive.

Has anyone else had this problem? I know the 2.0litre petrol is very rare in the Focus but I have faith in the experts on here.

Many thanks, Ash 👍
