when I start my car,cold or hot revs go about 500 then 1000 ( approx) then back to 500 and if you do not blip the throttle the engine will die.

This does not always happen but seems to happen more often.

Garage said it required a new pedal sensor , had it fitted, no difference.

Would anyone have any ideas please ?

There will almost certainly be a Ford specific DTC stored to give information on the problem. Generic code readers are very unlikely to be able to see the code as no EML has been set.

Use a laptop and download FORScan and check for codes.

I have just received the USB with switch but I will have to order a new laptop battery so I can out to the car.

Never used anything like this before could you give me some advice please?

Don't worry about it. Look at that video and have a read at the Instructions but like a lot of things in life they will seem daunting and incomprehensible until you have FORScan set up and start using it.

Once you are set up everything you have read and watched will make sense and you only need to refer to the instructions for reference or to double check something that you are not sure about.
