Replacing battery on Focus Mk4

Featured Replies

It looks simple but I can't get the battery out of my mk4 Focus! I've undone the top bracket and removed the wires but I can't seem to get the battery out - it appears to be held in somewhere else. I can lift it slightly and slide it forward by about 2cm until it hits the air filter box but that's it - it wont lift up because it feels like it's still held somewhere at the back and I can't slide it forward any further. Have I missed something?

You will need to remove the air filter box completely. Slide the battery forward and unplug the battery monitor leads from the BMS on the negative lead.

I had all the leads unplugged but hadn't anticipated taking off the air filter box as well. Seems like a bit of a pain for something that should be simple!

It’s usually only needed to be changed every 7 years give or take though.

It's OK, the replacement battery is Dolphin friendly 😉
