Sync 4

Featured Replies

Having been using Sync 4 for a while now I have noticed a couple of things that are wrong in my opinion, and could do with being fed back to the Sync 4 team.  And having looked around there is only one way of doing this, from what I can tell. And that is going through your Ford dealer, which I feel leads no were. Hopefully the Ford Sync team will see this thread instead.

One problem I found is in the navigation, when you let it notify you of a bend in the road ahead.  It makes a sound and also displays a banner on the screen. As the banner is to the very top left of the screen, you have to turn your head completely, taking your eyes off the road to read what it says. Which of course is dangerous. Logically the banner should be to the top right of the screen near the driver or in the dash or HUD. Anyone with thoughts on this or other problems/niggles?

Logical to us British in RHD cars.

Like so many things in cars of all makes they forget that what works on LHD doesn't always work very well when the driver is on the other side.

A far bigger problem is the crazy bonnet opening leaver being on the passenger side, and you have to be able to open the door on that side to pull the release. This becomes a major problem when a car has a flat battery and the doors are dead locked. Once again this problem doesn't occur on LHD models as the drivers door can be unlocked with the mechanical key and the bonnet leaver pulled.

Agreed with the RHD cars, but it wouldn't take much to make it country dependent. It already allows you to change head lights direction based on left or right hand on coming traffic.

With regards to bonnet release, I hadn't thought about what happens with a flat battery.  As you said it could be a problem if you have a flat battery.

Be sure to read your handbook on emergency procedures and have someone small with a spanner available to climb over from the drivers side, then bend over double, pull off the leaver and use the spanner to open the bonnet !

That's why I hardly ever double (Dead) lock my car, especially if it is going to be left unused for a few days. If you single lock it you can still open the passenger door from the inside.

Car theft is not a big problem where I live so it is less of a problem for me but I can understand why not everyone would feel safe doing that.
