Mk2 55 plate rear wiper

Featured Replies

Hiya - someone stole my rear wiper and I'm struggling to find the right replacement. I've not had to replace the rear wiper since owning my Focus.

Based on Halfords and Wiperblades.co.uk recommendations for my reg, I've purchased the following:

  • Bosch rear wiper H382 - fitting does not match the rear arm
  • Bosch rear wiper H351 - too small, needs to be 380mm length

So now I'm stumped.

Any help advising which rear wiper will fit to my 55 reg would be massively appreciated, especially as it's starting to rain much more now.

Cheers!

Is it a hatch or estate?  Have you tried the Ford parts desk?

From memory the very early Mk 2 focus models had a different rear wiper - plain wiper arm rather than the plastic surround/flush version they adopted for the rest of the production run.

Maybe helps finding somewhere that lists this earlier version for the 2005 cars as well as the later one

I got caught out by this. My Mk2 hatchback is quite an early one and uses a metal framed rear wiper.

A lot of places specify a plastic one that doesn't fit the early models.

I have a Mk2 2005 hatch. 2 years ago I too had this issue of a seemingly simple task of replacing a rear wiper arm, ending up with several incorrect ones with incorrect wipers too. From memory, the arm was metal but had a plastic blade, or maybe the other way round, really can't remember. Just wanted to assure you you're not alone in Ford making this issue far more complicated that it needs be!

You could always use Halfords wiper blade fitting service for a few pounds and then you can pass the problem over to them.

Just found my old thread of the saga of my rear wiper issue!

The after market front blades which are sold as an "exact fit" for my car are typically a different length to the Ford originals. I've given up researching/double-checking now, and I go direct to Ford for wiper blades. I haven't found them any dearer than Bosch from ECP, though slightly dearer than Halfords own brand. But I know they will fit.

For the front blades, it is possible to replace just the rubber strip.

I paid £3.45 for two 28" lengths of rubber strip from ebay. They have to be cut down slightly to fit the blades.

I haven't replaced just the rubbers in wiper blades in over 30 years! Still, if you're on a budget...

Did the Bosch AeroTwin type wipers even exist 30 years ago? It was a choice of £21 for a set of two complete wiper blades, or £3.45 for the rubber strips.

I have no idea! I never mentioned, 'bosch aero twin'...

The ebay listing called them frameless wipers. Aero Twin is the brand name they are sold new under. I mean the modern type without a metal frame as used on the Mk2 front screen.
