Hi I have a 2015 Ford focus with 205/55/r16 on it but have found some 215/55/r17 that have come of a Ford focus st would these fit? I’m happy to change tyres if the rims are fine but tyres not x

Are you sure those sizes are correct?

The Focus ST never came on 17's, so it's probably an ST-Line?  In that case, the tyre size should be 215/50/17, not 55.

They will fit ok.

Hi yes sorry you are correct st-line, so the tyres on it is 215/55/17 but I believe my car should be 215/5017 so I could put these on for now and then get them changed at some point? What will the difference be by having 55 instead of 50? X

Ok, the tyre will be slightly larger in diameter than your current one.  I don't think there'll be any scrubbing issues on a standard height Focus, but the speedo reading will be slightly wrong.  It's not a massive difference, it'll read about 70mph when you're actually doing 72mph.

Ok perfect so at some Point I can just put 215/50/17 on those rims and all will be normal is that correct? Sorry I have no clue about cars x

215/45/17 is too low profile for a Focus, that'll put your Speedo out in the opposite direction. (Reading 70mph but actually doing 68mph)

I'd still recommend 215/50/17.

And firm up the ride a bit as well of course. Could be why the original owner of the wheels fitted 55s instead of 50s.

Don’t forget the lower the profile of the tyre the more likely you are to damage the wheels on kerbs and potholes as less buffer to cushion it. As well as a harsh ride.might look cool but has disadvantages
