Ford Focus MK4 retrofit BiLed on Halogen reflector headlights

Featured Replies

Hi,

I've seen alot of discussion about swapping halogen headlights for LED headlights (not adaptive). I came across a video on youtube which is quite interesting.

They open up the headlight lens and retrofit a projector on to the light and close it back up.

Now, i have tried being in contact with these guys and i can't get any replies. So, my question to you guys is simple really. Has anybody done this to their car?

I find this really sleek finish to a really ugly halogen lights.

All the best,

Marteinn

Haha true! Good thing for the world that there is a mute button!

Illegal in most "civilized" countries.

I did swap from halogen to genuine static LEDs. So, if you just need better (they are awesome in compare to halogen) not fancy lights, here is my guideline: https://www.formod.eu/ledheadlamps.php

Some people successfully followed this instruction, so it is somehow "matured".

Yeah this is way to complex for me. Is there no plug and play headlamps i can buy? Do i need to change the pins and do some programming?

With respect, if there were, you'd have been informed of them by now rather than having been shown in detail how to achieve what you want...

Well, i disagree. I have seen few videos of a headlamp swap from halogen to LED reflector headlamps. I have tried being in contact with who made these videos without success. That's why i asked about plug and play here. I contacted the Ford Dealership in my country and they gave me a part numbers on the reflector LED headlights, but, i don't want to buy those headlights, just because of the simple fact, they are too expensive straight from the dealer. I have looked up these part numbers on Ebay, found quite a lot of them, but all without tabs to fit them.

Missing tabs is not a problem. Mainly, these lamps came from accidents, where a front bumper was damaged, moved and broke the tabs. If there are not other things broken, these lamps are perfect. Why? Because there are repair kits for about 50 quit, I have mentioned this in my article.

Plug and play are china "fake" lamps. They works, but they are illegal, and they are china so everything might happen including fire. Which country you are from?

I am from Iceland, and thank you for your article! I might have to take my car to a workshop and ask if they can do this modification.

Hi Piotr,

Would these work for plug and play or do they need coding and re-wiring as well? Not this particular headlight but this type.

If you swap to full static led or adaptive led, coding and wiring is required. There is an option for half-led, that is low beam - led, high beam halogen, turn - bulb. I have no experience with this, I heard that is almost plug & play, you need to search. These half-led lamps looks exactly same as halogen lamps but they have led in place of lowbeam section. And there are not so good and not so good looking as full led 😞

I agree they don't look as good as the other ones. I am trying to find a workshop that can do the wiring like in the article you posted. I just can't do it myself.
