Weihrauch HW99s Air-rifle

Featured Replies

Hopefully this topic is allowed. My new hobby besides my Ford, getting back into shooting after 40 years. Debated and prognosticated for a couple of months, then bit the bullet so to speak. Purchased a S/hand Weihrauch HW99s, at a seemingly ridiculously low price. Now i've stripped it i know why. Previous had put a stronger spring in and added to the preload washers. It was a pig to *****, was deiseling and galling {technical term}. Currently now in bits, cosmetically spotless, but the guts are knackered. Even if i throw full price bits at it it's still a cheap rifle. Theres quite a few clubs near me to join many offer free taster and range time under the banner of safety so i can get it set up properly and not have the expense of buying a chronograph.

Will Forscan fix it?

dont think it has a port

So my new hobby has stalled, after relating the catalogue of issues with the rifle its going back to the seller, in a bag in bits, thats how he asked for it. Its going to his gunsmith to be made "right" and instead of the rabid tiger i had hopefully i'll get a well behave puppy. I did ask he would contribute to a spring kit that i would fit and he went with the more expensive option, especially when you consider it will be special couriered back to me at their cost, i've got that in writing haha.

Does anybody else shoot ?

I shoot people on Call of Duty...  Not sure that counts.

Also shot a canon once.  DSLR I think it was.

Some years ago I was a member of our local rifle and pistol club and working on the family farm I always had a shotgun from the age of 10yrs. but I packed up shooting and gave my rifle to the local police station after the Dunblane and Hungerford incidents as I had changed my job and was working in the secondary school and shooting had got a bad press.
