HID headlight goes off after 30 seconds

Featured Replies

Just noticed this evening that one of my headlights was off.

If I turn them off and back on it stays on for 30 seconds and then goes off.

These are the D3S HID bulbs.

Does the bulb need replacing or could it be the ballast? Car is 64 reg and bulbs have never been replaced.

These are also the adaptive ones. Do they unclip like the normal non adaptive?

Thanks

Does my problem sound like the same thing?

2015 Titanium X Nav.
when cornering left, the cornering light comes on and main beam on left goes out but does not come back on when straightening up. I then have to turn lights off and on to reset it. Why is this happening and any fix?

Similar but different.

The OP's problem is most likely the HID lamp is nearing the end of it's life. Just like when you see the old style street lamps and the light comes on for a few minutes and then goes off for awhile and then comes back on again, repeating over and over.

Fixed my problem. Noticed that when the bulb was on it was purple then went orange then turned off.

Got a set of night breakers from Amazon £120. Easier to fit than I thought it was, took about 40mins.

The important part is : you get the job done ,and it's working neaw

Some of the streetlights in our carpark have been doing this for about 3 years...  It's incredibly irritating, had been wondering what caused it!

The streetlights around my neighbourhood were converted recently to LED ones, they brilliant!
