Vibration and noise from Gearbox after new Engine Mounts

Featured Replies

I bought an engine mount and two gearbox mounts for my 2009 Ford Focus 1.6 petrol. I installed them today and after installation I noticed the car actually vibrated more than it used to on idle and noticeably more whilest the A/C is on. Whilst driving I noticed that there was a sound similar to that of an air intake but much louder. I put it in neutral while driving and kept the revs where they were and the sound went away so I can only assume that the sound of the gearbox is being exaggerated through one of the mounts. The main engine mount has no vibration coming from the metal bracket it sits in, the rear gearbox mount on the bottom of the gearbox has no vibration so I can only assume its the one beneath the battery. I took this out and repositioned and still the same. Everything has been torqued up. The mounts are from Ridex so not sure if they're just bad or I've done something wrong.

Are these just bad mounts from new or have I missed something?
