2005 Focus Door Won't Close/Latch

Featured Replies

Hi all,

A friend has a 2005 Focus, it's the mk2 shape. Both his front doors don't close/latch properly, if you close them really gently they'll latch properly, shove it closed at a normal sort of force and the doors just bounce off the b pillar.

The strike plates on the b pillars has no adjustment and shows no sign of wear so I'm assuming it's the lock unit in the doors is worn?

Is this a common issue if so what is the solution, I'm guessing second hand locking units.

Thanks

Chris

Yes they do, you just cant see it. loosen the 2 (or is it 3) bolts and the striker plate can be moved back or pulled forward by about 5mm. Don't take the bolts all the way out, you might need to give the striker plate a tap with a hammer just to free it up.

Hi Chris, just out of curiosity, did you manage to sort out this problem? If yes what was the cause?

Thanks
