Changing tyre size

Featured Replies

hi

my focus came with 215 / 50 / 17 tyres. next year i was considering replacing all the tyres

i'm all about comfort so is it possible to change to 215 / 55 /17, the theory being the larger tyre will absorb more road noise? or do the wheels only allow one size of tyre? or will it not make much difference anyway 🤨

any facts and figures welcome 😊

Use this site to check wheel/ tyre combinations:

The difference in comfort between a 215/50/17 and 215/55/17 (side wall will be 12mm larger) will be so slight I doubt you would notice the difference.

If you want a difference that you can really feel then you need to change to 16" wheels with tyres that have large side walls. Just be aware that will affect side roll on cornering.
